Polypropylene (PP) is a wide-use
polymer, which is found any various application in the
E&E, Households and Automotive markets. PP can be
categorized as general-purpose homopolymer and high impact
copolymer
General Properties: Good fatigue, moisture, and chemical
resistance; low density; good stiffness and processability.
Fire retardant
applications for PP are mainly divided into 2 categories:
1. Lower standard of flame
retardancy UL-94 V-2 / DIN 4102 B2 which is used
for Building/Construction applications as pipes, lamp
holders, stadium seats, fiber spinning etc. FRs of choice
are FR-720, FR-370, FR-1206 HT (stabilized grade), and
in some cases FR-1210.
2. Higher standard of flame
retardancy UL-94 V-0 which is used in E&E
applications, "under-the-hood" battery housing.
FRs of choice are FR-1210 , FR-1808 (filled applications),
FR-1025 (glass reinforced applications).
